Personally i adore both types, when I'm listening at home i love to listen to the deeper side but being a fan of dancing I do love the head exploding side of dubstep, Just because you like one type doesn't mean that you are confined to that type, how could you not explore all the different sides of this very diverse sound?
The video I am going to show you is an excellent example of what I'm talking about, when I first started listening I was listening to the deep, trancy dub like tunes that were floating around in Bristol and catching John Peel on radio 1 really late at night, I have always loved this type of sound so when I first heard of the newer type of dubstep that has become very popular I was a bit uncertain, but this tune being thrown at me by Modestep made me open up my ears a little more.
This maybe a controversial choice but I like this tune, it's well produced, the bass is big sounding and the whole tune has a really special glow to it despite it being as it being as heavy as a Pantera song played backwards through a Kaos pad.
Let's all try and be a little bit more open minded, try listening to one track that you never thought you would like and try to find something within the track that makes it special. If we all try and gain the ability to appreciate something for the hard work and creativity rather than criticize then your world might seem a little brighter.
Happy Listening!
